Comedo Extraction
The term comedo describes the most common types of acne. Comedo Extraction is a procedure performed to remove whiteheads and blackheads on the skin which appear due to blocked hair follicles and clogged pores. These occur wherever there is an increase in sebum production and range from whiteheads and blackheads to other growths known as micro comedones, macrocomedones and giant comedones.
Steam is applied to the skin to open up the pores – in some cases the skin may be exfoliated first. The blocked pores are then cleaned out thoroughly and any comedones removed using a sterile comedo extractor. The instrument applies pressure on any fluid or solid matter inside the comedone drawing it out.
It effectively removes whiteheads, blackheads and other types of acne leaving your skin clear and free from spots.
